Skipper originally from Ruxton in Baltimore studied filmmaking in Vermont at Windham College and worked for CBS NBC and ABC as a northeast news stringer. Following the Lack Placed winter olympics in 1980 Skipper moved to Oxford and his impression of Oxford was “it’s just like New England only flat and warm”. His first job in Maryland was working for Sports Scene Magazine at Chanel 2 in Baltimore. With the change over from Film to Video tape Skipper retired to the Oxford strand to sell windsurfers and work at the Masthead Restaurant in Oxford as a bartender. In 1986 he passed his Real Estate exam and went to work for Lamotte Properties. He left to start a Boutique Real Estate firm with Hugh Smith and John Jelich known as Tred Avon Properties. Tread Avon Properties was then purchased by Coldwell Banker and now Skipper has moved to Exit Latham Realty at 29 East Dover Street Easton Maryland 21601 (410-822-21520) Skipper has been the President of the Mid-Shore of Realtors in 1997 District Seven Vice President for the Maryland Association of Realtors, Realtor of the year for the Mid-shore board 1998 and 2006 and President of the Maryland Chapter of the certified Residential Specialists 2008. Skipper holds the following designations:

 

Accredited Buyers Representative, ABR. 

Certified Default Resolution Specialist, CDRS.

Certified Default Property Specialist, CDPS

Certified International Property Specialist, CIPS. 

Certified Residential Specialist, CRS. 

Graduate of the Realtors Institute, GRIS

In his years on the shore Skipper helped found the Oxford Business Association Presently is a founding member and sits on the board of the Tred Avon Players. He is the fleet Admiral of the Cardboard Boat Races to raise funds for Special Olympics Maryland and has been for the last 17 years. Skipper is a past vice president of the Oxford Museum and on occasion will give historic tours of Oxford. He also provides the PA for Oxford Day and is the announcer for the July Fourth Celebration in the Oxford Park and for the Oxford ghost walk . Skipper’s wife Leigh and Daughter Galen are some times seen on stage together in Easton or Oxford while Skipper works the lights.
