Peach Festival Offers a Full Day of Fun – As the Lexington County Peach Festival celebrates its 53rd year on July 4th, the festival offers a full day of fun with the celebration of America’s birthday. Arts and crafts, children’s rides, and great foods will be available for varying fees in the Gilbert Community Park on Rikard Circle. A parade, three stages of entertainment, an antique tractor and farm equipment display, a car show, a Revolutionary War re-enactment, and a fireworks show will be available without charge. The Revolutionary War re-enactment will host cannon firings at specific times of the day as well as a reading of the Declaration of Independence at noon. The parade begins at 9:30 a.m., and the fireworks show begins at 10 p.m. Enjoy the activities, the shade, barbecue, hot dogs, hamburgers, and peach cobbler. The Gilbert Community Club has been sponsoring the Lexington County Peach Festival since 1959.

4th of July Celebration Looking for Parade Contestants – This year’s 4th of July Celebration on Lake Murray will be held July 2. The theme is “Families, Freedom & Fireworks”. The July 4th Boat Parade will be held at Noon. Enjoy the patriotic display as locals and visitors decorate their boats; the parade will be viewable from the park sites at the Lake Murray Dam or by boat. It’s free to the public! South Carolina’s Largest Fireworks will begin at about 9:15 p.m., and will be launched from two locations: Spence Island and Dreher Island. The show is choreographed to a patriotic concert that will air simultaneously on the Citadel Broadcasting Company stations: 106.7 FM and 98.5 FM.Both park sites at the Dam will be open until they reach capacity. Park admission is $3/car or truck and $2/motorcycles.
