District 5 names Teacher and Support Employee of the Year – Elizabeth Knott, second grade teacher at Lake Murray Elementary and Kay Dickerson, payroll specialist at the District Office, received Lexington-Richland Five’s top honors. Knott was named the 2011-12 Mary Meech Mungo District Five Teacher of the Year, and Dickerson was named the 2011-12 Michael J. Mungo District Five Support Employee of the Year. Knott has six years of teaching experience but her history at Lake Murray Elementary goes back even further. Knott served as a Teacher Cadet at Lake Murray Elementary during her senior year of high school. Although she had planned to major in business in college, she said her experience as a Teacher Cadet “changed her life forever.” Dickerson has worked in Lexington/Richland Five for 13 years. She began her career in the district as a substitute teacher, working her way to Sub-finder operator, to payroll assistant and finally leader of the payroll department. She said it is her job to treat employees with respect and make sure they are paid in a timely manner.

Measure Success

You can't manage what you don't measure. It is an old management adage that is accurate today. Unless you measure something you don't know if it is getting better or worse. You can't manage for improvement if you don't measure to see what is getting better and what isn't. This article will help you know what to measure and how.
